Ombis: Alien Invasion (2013) Synopsis :

Ombis is a 1950's styled sci-fi movie set in modern times. It's the tale of an invasion of an alien virus which lands via meteorite in the small town of Metzburgh. Metzburgh is a former industrial town whose glory days are long past but whose residents are carrying on with their daily lives: loving each other and living life as best they can. In the midst of this idealistic backdrop, enter the hideous virus Ombis, which is intent on taking over the planet Earth and changing its residents into a host for a new species.

The only thing that can stop Ombis is Nemesis, an alien from the same home planet as the virus who was sent here to contain the alien scourge. The Nemesis' disregard for the human race puts him in a position to ensure that the Ombis virus will be eradicated since he doesn't care about collateral damage and will use any means necessary to destroy his enemy. The real story of Ombis, however, is the human struggle of the residents of Metzburgh: to fight for their village and for their ve.......

Ombis: Alien Invasion (2013) Review by firetrek2001 from Buffalo, NY
The best film by Adam Steigert yet. Lots of action, thrills and sci-fiadventure. Richard Satterwhite and Alexander S. McBryde are brilliantas the sheriff and Mr. Grey. Ansomble cast of the best talent Buffalohas. The introduction of Aryn Fitzgerald and Richard Winatowski to theDefTone family is brilliant, both have a bright future. Jason JohnBeebe ans Sara Manzella have a great chemistry together. The town ofMetzburgh has never had this much going on at one time. Steigert weavesa story of science fiction horror that captivates the audience. Hesuccessfully mixes action and humor. Can't wait for "a Grim Becoming"in 2014.

Ombis: Alien Invasion (2013) Review by gcjrealtor-690-567056

I have been viewing Deftone Studios films for a couple of years now andthe overall quality just increases with each release. Ombis is the bestto date! Filming, scoring, and acting in this feature all showcase anincredible amount of talent from an unexpected part of the country,Buffalo, NY. I did not expect to become engrossed in the story, startled by the antagonists, rooting for the protagonists and genuinelybelieving in the character "Nemesis" as much as I did. The makeup forthis character was top notch. The transition makeup from humanto...well, not human, was also very convincing. I consider myselfsomething of a "B" horror movie queen and Ombis is one I need to own.Rent it, own it, JUST WATCH IT. Its worth your time and will quicklybecome a cult favorite.

Ombis: Alien Invasion (2013) Review by Chip Reichenthal (victimsofretail-483-6334)
This Film is an absolute gem. There are some elements of the Movie,"Ombis:Alien Invasion" that we haven't seen done in films of this genrein quite a while, as I find many such films mean-spirited, unoriginal, dull and visceral. 'Ombis' brings back a feel-good element, gives itscharacters some old-fashioned chivalry and heart, or courtesy andgrace, while smartly balancing laughs with shocks, and there wasn't asingle second during our viewing where we caught ourselves driftinginto daydreams…another thing I have not experienced in quite some time.'Ombis' is at once campy and intelligent, scares are quickly replacedwith laughs, in it there are ups and downs, silliness and sorrow, happiness and hardship, action and quiet, kindness and betrayal, goofiness and grace…often in the same scenes. The result is fun, delightful, and never dull, and a treasure to behold for those who seeMovies for an escape, or to have a good time. This is indeed fun, andthe whole family can enjoy 'Ombis: Alien Invasion", and, hopefully, embrace a premise where mutants, aliens, action heroes, governmentinterventions and small-town charm all fit smartly into a delightfulhomage to the cult classic. This film is absolutely destined to be acult classic, yet as it stands is already classic indeed.

"Ombis: Alien Invasion" takes place in the small, any-town USA ofMetzburgh. The town is carefully and lovingly watched over by itsSheriff, delightfully portrayed by Richard Satterwhite. The peace ofthis community is quickly jeopardized when a meteor crashes in itsmidst, carrying a biological agent detrimental to humans, and itsharmful effects begin quickly to spread, with potentially dreadfulresults. Into the fray walks unlikely hero Mark (Jason John Beebe), andthis young Man soon finds himself smack-dab in the middle of all thechaos, while chivalrous and heroically engaging infected townsfolk, analien other than the infectious agent mysteriously added to the mix, federal agents attempting to trump local law enforcement, town drunks, plumbers, inept deputies and his sweetheart. Many things are going onat the same time, both with hero Mark, and with the films emotional andaction elements. Rather than ending up confusing us, it adds to theoverall enjoyment of the film, and also gives the film ideal appeal forrepeated viewing. Credit Director Adam R. Steigert for giving 'Ombis'such wonderful heart and great fun, and giving us a Movie that standsout for bringing classic elements of campy fun, moral character, unexpected thrills and multi-layered plot and emotion. I do believeSteigert is a Director to watch, as if this is an example of hisability, the future has to be as enticing and interesting as histongue- in-cheek homage to science fiction/horror films that aren't init for taking themselves seriously. It reminds me of the BruceCampbell-laden 'Evil Dead' films, in the sense that those films wink atthemselves while giving great entertainment value…though it's somewhatunfair to compare this film to anything. It stands as original on itsown, and it's about time we see anything original lately.

It should be noted that this film is an example of a very dear thing, the community of the Deftone Pictures Studios. This film used talentlocal to Deftone, and honored everything in its regard. A communityeffort indeed. With that, there are the occasional novice performances, and you can see some of that if you look carefully, and because of thatI have to abstain from giving 'Ombis' a perfect rating. It's ironic, though, as considering the level of performance Steigert gets out ofhis first-timers, as well as his weathered professionals, and thegallant character to take risks in honoring the use of local talent, rather than staying safe and using only professionals, makes this filmmore deserving of a perfect rating than most top-budget projects frombig Hollywood that stand only to exemplify mediocrity. It has to besaid how marvelous it is to see Deftone throw caution to the wind, tohonor the heart of a community vital to their process, so I say ithere. Deftone, and "Ombis: Alien Invasion" deserve major nods, forbringing us all something we should see much more often, but, at leastsee 'Ombis'. It's worth giving oneself a good time, if not a delightfulone. 9 of 10 stars.
