Killing Season (2013) Review by brcastle2000 from United States
I had read some reviews before seeing "Killing Season" so I didn't havetoo high of expectations going in. That being said, I wasn'tdisappointed. DeNiro and Travolta give average performances, whicharen't helped at all by the accents they try to use during the film.Travolta's is painful, the worst part is, someone, somewhere along theline had to tell him it sounded good. DeNiro's southern drawl isnowhere near as bad, but it seems to come and go at different times inthe movie, becoming more or less noticeable. KS starts out a littleslow but picks up about 1/3 of the way in and keeps a decent pace. Theplot is solid, but IMO the script writer didn't hold up his end of thebargain. Either that or Travolta and DeNiro were basically goingthrough the motions with their main motivation seeming like thepaycheck they got after the last day of shooting. All in all, the movieis entertaining, if only mildly at some points. It definitely will notwin any awards, but it will help you to kill two hours. SKIP THETHEATER, RENT IT

Killing Season (2013) Review by Matt West from Australia

Where to start? Don't second-guess yourself: it's been panned for areason. It is an ugly, pointless potboiler lacking in brains, charismaand even the slightest hint of excitement. What follows is one and ahalf hours of very crude torture scenes, mock character development,Macgyver-like scenarios of escape and an abundance of completelyunnecessary CGI effects.

It just reeks of "cut and dry". Obviously it was too much effort tospend time on practical special effects so the director just found acheap CGI company to scribble in the animals, the weapon effects, thesquibs, the sunsets, the lighting, and anything else he can think of.Poor direction. Frankly I would think after such long and successfulcareers that Travolta and De Niro were beneath such roles.

Travolta, as always, brings a kind of raw energy to his role andimmerses himself in his character, even if his accent is off he neverwinks to the audience and does his best to do his job to a goodstandard. De Niro, however, is out of his element here, with a slippingsouthern accent that wasn't necessary. He feigns injury like PierceBrosnan (poorly). Even when threading a metal cable through the exposedwound in his leg he is not convincing.

After a poorly conceived prologue, a taut first act will draw you in,but unfortunately it all goes downhill from there. The sheer excess ofsymbolism and foreshadowing is a clumsy misfire. Macgyver scenariospile up quickly and the action climax will have you practicallylaughing at how stupid it is. Seriously. Don't pay to watch this crap.

Killing Season (2013) Review by gonzofaratro from Switzerland
I just can't believe what I saw, what happened here?

Let's see... just imagine a film in which the soviet union invaded theUSA during '44, half a million casualties in NYC, LA looks likeHiroshima and its all based on true events.

OMG, what a twisted set of events and history, Travolta and DeNiroshould have some one teach them a bit better about what happened duringthe Bosnian war, there are good and impartial accounts out there.

Serb, Croats and Muslim Bosnians committed horrible atrocities and werevictims of horrible atrocities, no one was innocent, some were betterat playing victims.

Shame on you guys for doing such a perverse film

To the script writer, next time study a bit better before writing suchphenomenal piece of historical garbage, do you at least know how manystars there are in your flag?
